FloDLite is Delightful

Well, making a headline for this post was pretty easy — and not clever of me.

Everyone knows fro-yo has been a popular dessert for a few years. But, finally, the delicious frozen treat has made its way to Newport News. Located in the Jefferson Commons shopping center, customers now have the liberty to top their dessert into whatever creation they desire. Yes, I know we have Berrybody, which is delicious too. But putting toppings on your own is a fun change.

This picture is of me awkwardly sitting in my car eating my yogurt creation while trying to capture the sign. There is no doubt in my mind that I looked extremely creepy in doing so.

Walking into the shockingly white IKEA looking establishment, those unfamiliar with the do-it-yourself fro-yo protocol may be intimidated. A few modern white tables sit in the front of the store. Head to the back and grab which ever size cup you want (12 oz., 16 oz.). From there, it’s up to you to choose whichever flavors you want. FloDLite updates their flavors constantly, so it may be in your best interest to follow them on Twitter or Facebook to stay up to date.

Some of the frequent flavors include non-fat vanilla, chocolate, and New York cheesecake. Delicious standouts include cake batter, pistachio, red velvet cake and blueberry. Once your flavor (or flavors) are decided, you can head over to the toppings. Bits of brownies or cheesecake, fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and countless crushed candy bar flavors can make the topping decisions difficult. There is even cereal and granola at your dispense.

Once your toppings are decided, simply place your cup on their weight scale. A 12 oz. cup with toppings ran about $4-$5 in my case.

It’s pretty easy to walk into FloDLite looking for a light and satisfying treat. It’s also pretty easy to walk out with a dessert full of sweets stacked up to the brim of your cup. Oops.

  1. Great review! I went to a place like this recently and was extremely disappointed because the yogurt wasn’t the tart kind*, but just the normal soft serve. Was this tart or normal?

*(just a reader’s preference of course!!!!)

  2. Thanks for being such a dedicated reader Ghudson! My red velvet, cake batter and vanilla selections were a little sweeter rather than tart. But you can always get the original tart flavor at FloDLite! That’s the beauty of it!
